Compliments

I love getting compliments...but who doesn't. When I hear the words, "you look great today." I usually want to check myself out to see if I looked different than usual and attempt to repeat it. Even better are the words, "You are so cute!" This is vastly different than the previous compliment because being cute encompasses personality, charm, and appearance. It's like getting a big hug from someone who likes you...a lot! I want to say this statement more to people because I am thinking it but rarely express it. I am always shocked at how good it feels to hear it and how quickly a super happy smile spreads across my face.

Today I received an awesome compliment. I interpret Sign Language a few times each week and I really love it. At the end of the appointment the doctor looked me in the eyes and said, "You are a fantastic interpreter!" I don't usually trust this specific compliment coming from someone with absolutely no background in ASL. For all I know I may be the first interpreter she has ever met and she had nothing to compare it to. The compliment continued, "I always knew that patient was darling but today I got to hear her personality." Even typing this my heart swells a bit (I love heart swell moments). I felt like such a success. Speaking of compliments, don't mind if I do, "Autumn, today was a good day and you did a great job interpreting!"

  2. My heart swelled reading this entry because I do think You are so cute. (No I am not copying Gerbs comment, I am the first and continuous giver of that phrase). I will continue to give it and watch your face be lifted. I can attest that Autumn loves hearing those comments. Her reaction goes something like this: "Oh my Gosh, are you serious?" Her face lights up and she does check herself out in the mirror for hours on end.......ok jk only for a few mins.

  3. I compeltely agree about the thinking people are cute in my mind but not expressing it verbally nearly enough. Now to make up for my lax, you are cute, Jessica is cute, Summer is cute,... I could go on and on but I would rather tell you in person in a few short weeks! Love you Autumn, I love reading what you post, can't wait to see you!

  4. This is soo true, and of everyone I know you are the most complimentive person ever. You are always making everyone around you feel so good about themselves. My brother-in-law Gene always says you are the nicest person he knows. He must really mean it because I have heard it from him about a million times. I am making a goal right now to say the compliments I am thinking a lot more. You are so right about we think them all the time but rarely say them. Thank you for the good reminder. You truly are such a darling person!
