We moved from Murray Castle to a basement apartment with a back yard! Moving always takes a lot more time than expected. We moved most of our small things throughout the week and on Saturday my parents and younger siblings came to help move the heavy furniture and remaining items.
Everything was completed within a few hours. My new apartment was stacked floor to ceiling with boxes and felt like it would take a month to unbury everything. My parents let my sister MaraLyn spend the night and help me begin undigging myself. Lucky for me she has one of the same hobbies as me...working and organizing, except her desire to clean kicked in at a much earlier age.
The next day I was surprised to find out my mom and Katie would switch out with Mary and spend the night and help me finish everything. My sweet mother would help me unpack while Katie selflessly would tend the kids. It was a Sunday night so we would postpone the unpacking until the next day so my mom and I stayed up talking until 2 AM. I felt a closeness to my mom and knew that she ignored her sleepiness sp that she could love me in the way I need, which is quality time. It's not the easiest love language to get stocked up on. My mom loves each child in the way they want to be loved. It's a tough job considering there are 11 different personalities that each have their own unique way of feeling loved and supported but somehow she seems to do it.
The night was interrupted by Owen's appetite. The morning came much too early but we made it to my favorite weight lifting class at 8 AM. I am used to going alone but once again I felt so special that she would sacrifice her preferred speed walk in the fresh air to join me indoors for one full hour of strenuous exercise. She did awesome and lasted the whole hour! I felt so proud of her and realized my strength comes from both my parents. It's not easy to have perfect form when lifting weights but she never quit trying. I will never forget the image of her doing lunges or the aerobics in between weights. She would intently watch the instructor and was usually one beat off, one step behind, or going the wrong direction. Always moving is the most important thing and she made sure she did that. She looked so cute.
The remainder of the day was spent unpacking until 4 in the afternoon when we left to run a few errands and then drive to Payson to celebrate Jessica's 23rd birthday. This huge day didn't even seem to phase my mom. When it comes to working my mom is orange juice concentrate and I am watered down O.J.
This was such a wonderful gift from my mom for coming and from my dad to be willing to take care of the house in her absence. My bucket was over flowing and my house was clean in just a couple of days. My parents are wonderful examples to me of how to love others.

What a sweet tribute to your mom. I bet she really was cute in your weightlifting class :) I love your new quote up at the top by the way.
ReplyDeleteAmazey I think you write awesome. Wow you are very generous with your positive comments. Thank you.It means everything to me that my children feel loved individually. At a store this last weekend someone who was from a family of 9 said that being born to a big family she didn't feel loved. So she chose to only have 2 kids. I just couldn't stand it if my children didn't each know that I love them as much as if they were my only child, but as a member of a large family we all live for the good of the family and take turns being the one at the top of the list as needs or wants dictate.I think it is a great ideology and I think our results show it.Many great character traits are formed by taking turns, sharing and being considerate of others. Of course it's never a perfect world but all in all having a large family full of best friends is the best cause I have ever been a part of.
