Princess Academy Book Club

One of my favorite evenings spent with my mom, sisters, and Ashley was our very successful Anne of Green Gables Book Club night. We all came wearing our Sunday best and each brought something edible to share as well as some useful information. Adorned with crowns we gathered around a dining table featuring Green Gable delights. We had biscuits and cream, tea and cookies, delicious lemon blueberry cake, and a light soup and salad. To drink there was milk, and herbal tea. We discussed our favorite parts of the book and it gave us all a thrill. Each girl spent a minute elaborating on etiquette, femininity, grace and charm which was prepared beforehand. Following dinner we discussed the book and mom taught us how to improve our marriages and how to take excellent care of our skin at an affordable price. Despite all of our different personalities we all seemed to have a great time and looked forward to doing it again. We are reading books that appeal to the youth so MaraLyn, Katie and Ashley can participate.

The meal for Little Britches was straight from the book. Calico beans, custard pie, cold milk, cut apples, and corn bread. We discussed the book and each of us taught eachother more about the finer things in life. I love book club because as a group of girls and women we gather and discuss a united topic. Little ones are taken to a different room so the conversation can flow smoothly and when we depart we can feel our well is a little more full than when we came. The evening is only a couple of hours but it is such a fulfilling experience and will remain a precious memory.
